MISSION STATEMENT: The Parrot Fanciers’ Club, hereafter known as PFC is dedicated to the ethical treatment of psittacines in captivity, as well as to their preservation in the wild. PFC’S purpose is to provide information & assistance to all parrot owners regarding proper nutrition, handling & routine maintenance of psittacines. PFC also intends to encourage the advancement of avian medical research, captive breeding programs & informational programs. Special consideration & effort will be made to assist injured, handicapped & unwanted parrots by providing veterinary & foster care. Until such a time that permanent arrangements (adoptions) can be made.

PFC is fully aware of the continuous need to find homes for unwanted parrots, thus creating Parrot Haven in 1999. Long Island’s First Non Profit Pet Bird Sanctuary will insure that all homeless birds have a place to go to in an emergency situation. No bird will ever be turned away, no matter the size, if injured or healthy. Parrot Haven survives on donations and is run by volunteers. No member receives any type of salary.

100% of all donations go directly to helping the birds.

Residents are given love, support and the care necessary to rehabilitate & place them. Many of the birds entering Parrot Haven are considered “unadoptable” due to medical, personality or psychological problems. There will always be more than a few birds that will live out their lives as part of the Parrot Haven family. For the most part these birds can become enjoyable pets. There is no rush to place them as Parrot Haven strives to place the birds in permanent & loving homes. If an adoption doesn’t work out, all birds are welcome back at the Parrot Haven. Parrot Haven, located in Lindenhurst, New York has housed about 550 birds since its inception in 1999. All found birds are quarantined, and then released for adoption after a six week effort to locate the owners has been exhausted. All birds are groomed on premises & receive medical treatment as needed through our Parrot Haven vets, Dr. Heidi Hoefer, of Island Exotic Veterinary Care, Dr. Robert Monaco of Old Country Animal Clinic, Dr. Bob Corona of All Pets Animal Hospital & Dr. John Sapienza of
