HELP SUPPORT THE PARROT HAVEN BIRDS AT NO COST TO YOU. JUST SIGN UP FOR A CAPITAL ONE CREDIT CARD. CAPITAL ONE WILL DONATE $50 TO PARROT HAVEN, A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, AFTER THE FIRST PURCHASE ON AN APPROVED CARD. USE ONE OF OUR PARROT IMAGES OR USE YOUR OWN IMAGES.

When you are dropping your birds at Parrot Haven,
  1. PLEASE MAKE SURE THE CAGE IS AS CLEAN AS YOU WOULD EXPECT IT TO BE IF YOU WERE RECIEVING AN ADOPTIVE BIRD.
Many drop off filthy, rusted cages, which I am not able to use and they go promptly into the garbage. Then I have to either spend an hour scrubbing the cage clean, repaint, or purchase another cage that is decent and comfortable for the bird.

  2. PLEASE REMEMBER TO MAKE A NICE TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION WHEN YOU DROP OFF YOUR BIRD.
Remember, it's another bird that needs to be cared for and cleaned up after No. volunteer receives a salary and it does take about 4 hours a day to feed and clean the birds. Your bird.

  3. WHILE I DON'T MIND TAKING A BIRD IN THAT NEEDS A HOME, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE SOMETHING TOWARDS THE FOOD, VET, TOY OR HOUSING EXPENSES INCURRED TO HELP KEEP PARROT HAVEN UP AND RUNNING.
Thank you for your consideration. Many thanks to those who remember the birds with their end of year tax donations. Especially PetCo, Richard & Andrew King of King's Cages and Dr. Leonard & Mrs. Kleiman

Looking to adopt a bird from Parrot Haven,
Parrot Haven receives many requests for adoptions. All potential parents must be members of the Parrot Fanciers Club. This helps insure that our birds will be going to a home where the new owner will be receiving monthly newsletters with educational material and will also encourage phone calls to the Parrot Hotline, at 631-956-0015 or by seeking information by emailing ParrotAdoptions@aol.com. Most people giving up a bird want to be sure that their beloved pet is going to a member that someone from the club can vouch for. This can only happen if a member attends a meeting or event periodically. In all fairness to our current members who wish to adopt, all future parents must become members. You may print out a membership application by going to Parrot Fanciers Club. An Adoption Application is located on Parrot Haven. Be sure to print out the form that includes your name, address, email address and phone number.

Birds will only be adopted within the tri-state area or if the adopter is willing to arrange transportation to NY to pick up their adopted bird. Parrot Haven representatives feel uneasy about sending a bird to their new home by airplane. Only in special circumstances will this method be considered.

Adoption & Donor Forms

Print out this Emergency Notification Card and fill in all necessary information. This will help ensure that your bird is given the care it needs if you suddenly fall ill or otherwise can not care for your bird.

About Parrot Haven
There are so many cases of injured and homeless parrots whose owners no longer want them. This may be due to a death in the family, birth, divorce, relocation, or simply that the owners lost interest. Many people purchase birds as an "impulse buy." What happens to these poor creatures? They didn't ask to be put in this situation of being farmed out from home to home.

Many of them are in need of medical attention, food, shelter and most of all love and a permanent home.

Parrot Haven developed in July of 1999, as part of the Rescue Operation of Parrot Fancier's Club.

It is the Parrot Haven's policy that no bird will be turned away. There can be many costs associated with caring for all these birds. This would include lab and veterinary fees, cages, food, medical supplies, medication and toys, to name a few items. Monies taken in through the sales and hosting of Parrot Clubs.Com links will go to support them and the Injured Bird Fund. With these funds, it is Parrot Haven's goal to be able to provide these birds with a "safe haven" in which to live until they can be adopted.

Once the birds become adoptable, they will be placed in suitable homes within the New York area.

A donation is expected when adopting any Parrot Haven bird since there are housing, food and medical costs involved with all the birds.

Please help us help them - Please send payment to Parrot Fanciers' Club/Parrot Haven at P. O. Box 128, Amityville, N. Y, 11701.
PayPal is also accepted.
Please remember that all donations are tax deductible.
