TONY RESCUED KIKI, A PINEAPPLE CONURE, AFTER FINDING HIM ON HIS ROOF.  KIKI WAS PLACED IN A BROILED CHICKEN CONTAINER, IN PLACE OF A CARRIER, TO DROP HIM OFF AT PARROT HAVEN  HEY, IT WORKED.  KIKI'S OWNER HUNG POSTERS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF DAYS BEFORE THEY WERE REUNITED.  KIKI HAD NOT BEEN CLIPPED AND FLOWN OFF HIS OWNER'S SHOULDER WHEN THE DOOR WAS OPENED.  THERE WAS A VERY HAPPY REUNION WITH MOM & KIKI. THANKS TO TONY FOR HAVING AN HONEST HEART.

if you've found a bird

KEEP IT SAFE. IT'S PROBABLY EXHAUSTED AND STARVING.  GIVE IT WATER AND FOOD, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE SEED, FRUIT, VEGETABLES. ANYTHING THAT YOU EAT, EXCEPT FOR CHOCOLATE, AVACADOS OR ALCOHOL.

GO TO WWW. PARROTALERT911 AND CRAIGSLIST.ORG  AND LIST THE BIRD.  DON'T GIVE OUT TO MUCH INFORMATION. JUST LIST; FOUND PARROT.  CALL  OR EMAIL WITH A DESCRIPTION. ASK THE CALLER TO BRING A PHOTO. LET HE CALLER DESCRIBE THE BIRD THAT HE LOST.

THERE ARE TOO MANY UNSCRUPULOUS PEOPLE OUT THERE WHO WILL SAY IT'S THEIR BIRD. MOST PEOPLE WILL KNOW IF THEIR BIRD IS BANDED AND KNOW THE BAND NUMBER. IF THEY DON'T KNOW THE BAND #, ASK WHICH LEG IT'S ON.  DOES THE BIRD HAVE ANY PHYSICAL DEFECTS?

THE GOAL IS TO RETURN THE BIRD TO ITS' RIGHTFUL OWNER WHO IS PROBABLY FRANTIC WITH WORRY.  THE BIRD CAN PERCH ON THE BACK OF A CHAIR OR TEMPORARILY  BE PLACED IN A LAUNDRY BASKET.  IT SHOULD BE CLIPPED IMMEDIATELY TO PREVENT IT FROM FLYING AWAY AGAIN.  PARROT HAVEN WILL GROOM THE BIRD AND LEND YOU A CAGE IF YOU DECIDE TO KEEP THE BIRD UNTIL IT IS FOUND. IF YOU CAN'T KEEP THE BIRD, THEN PARROT HAVEN WILL TAKE IN THE BIRD AND TRY TO LOCATE THE OWNER.

if you've lost a bird

please send your information TO PARROTCLUBS@AOL.COM,  including species of parrot, photo, band #, & area lost.

MAKE UP POSTERS AND HANG IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.  PASS OUT AT  THE LOCAL SCHOOLS,

VET OFFICES, GROCERY STORES.  HAND OUT POSTERS  TO THE KIDS. THEY'RE YOUR GREATEST RESOURCE. OFFER A REWARD.

IF YOU'VE SPOTTED YOUR BIRD IN A TREE, APPROACH SLOWLY. OFFER THE BIRD FOOD.

SIT IN A CHAIR AND RELAX. GET A BAG OF CHIPS AND CRINKLE THE PAPER.  CALL SOFTLY TO YOUR BIRD.  HE'S HUNGRY AND WANTS TO COME BACK TO YOU BUT MIGHT NOT KNOW HOW TO FLY DOWN TO YOU.  MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A NET TO TRY AND CAPTURE HIM,  SINCE HE'S SURE TO GET SPOOKED AND FLY OFF AGAIN.  SET UP A CAGE WITH FOOD,  IN THE VICINITY THAT HE'S BEEN SPOTTED.  DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF DOOR, YOU CAN PULL IT SHUT WHEN THE BIRDS FLIES IN TO EAT.  KEEP THE CROWD AWAY. THEY'LL JUST SCARE HIM OFF AGAIN.

WHEN AND IF YOU DO GET YOUR BIRD BACK, KEEP HIM CLIPPED, TO PREVENT HIS ESCAPE AGAIN.
